PROCESS

Here’s what you are going to do…

You will work your way through each of the tasks below.  But beware!  Good behavior and character will lurk at every corner!  As you finish each step, have your teacher initial your Behavior WebQuest Checklist found on the evaluation page before you move on to the next step.  DO NOT skip steps!  Each step is important!

Step 1:  You will brainstorm a list of classroom norms which the class will compile and then choose the ones voted most important to be the official classroom norms.  Norms are behaviors that everyone in the class will be expected to follow.  Make sure they are realistic to the school setting.

Step 2:  Start an “expectations” journal.  Each day for one week, write in your journal telling about ways you followed expectations.  Remember to include school expectations, as well as work expectations.  During conferences, you should focus on the positive choices you make with behavior.

Step 3:  The 6 pillars of character are:
                                                                        *Trustworthiness

                                                                         *Respect

                                                                         *Responsibility

                                                                         *Fairness

                                                                          *Caring

                                                                          *Citizenship

Six Pillars of Character       How Do I Live by the Six Pillars of Character?

Choose one pillar in which to become an “expert”.  You will prepare a powerpoint presentation highlighting the importance of your chosen pillar and how the pillar relates to community and school behavior.  This powerpoint will be presented to the class at the end of this webquest.   You will also make this presentation to your parents at your conference.  You may research your pillar on the internet, with your teacher’s help, or you may check out books from the library about your chosen pillar.

Step 4:  Create a list of “do’s and don’ts” of good character.  Your list should have at least five do’s and five don’ts.

Step 5:  Using the letters in your first name, write an acrostic poem with good behavior/character phrases.  This will be something you share with parents during conference time.

Step 6:  In your group, present your character powerpoint to the class.  You will share it visually via the SmartBoard.

Step 7:  Parent Night will be April 19th.  Be prepared  to share your portfolio of work and behavior/character projects with your parents.  You will share your classwork, artifacts, and character powerpoints with your parents.  Other parents may be interested, so you may share your behavior/character projects and presentations with them, as well.
